  • Fueled by the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and a shift toward high-density computing, the data center industry entered 2025 in overdrive. This surging demand for digital infrastructure placed unprecedented pressure on power availability and grid systems.
In 2026, the conversation is evolving. Growth remains strong, but it is no longer defined by scale alone. Instead, it reflects a more complex reality: accelerating demand coupled with growing constraints. Power availability, infrastructure readiness, supply chain limitations, and regulatory pressures are increasingly shaping not just how fast data centers can be built - but where and how they can be developed.

Understanding these forces is critical. The following trends illustrate what is driving the next phase of data center growth and what is limiting it.
  • Cummins Inc. [NYSE: CMI] today announced they will launch the QuikDisc™ Rotor for U-Series wheel ends at FDIC International, the premier event for fire and rescue professionals in North America.

With QuikDisc, Cummins becomes the first manufacturer to offer air disc brakes for a single rear-drive axle at the 33,500 lb capacity rating used by heavy fire apparatus and introduces an industry-first patented two-piece hub design that fundamentally changes how disc brake rotors are serviced in the field.
  • Cummins Inc. [NYSE: CMI] today announced they will launch the new Meritor® RT-160 HE tandem drive axle family for heavy linehaul applications at Truck World, Mississauga, ON, Canada.

The new family offers efficiency gains similar to those enjoyed by linehaul users of the MT40-14X HE axle in North America, while maintaining the proven axle capacity required for heavier demands like those in the Mexican and Canadian markets. Available in both 40k and 46k gross axle weight ratings (GAWR), the axles are suitable for on-highway applications of up to 185,000 gross combination weights (GCW). The RT-160 HE family axle ratio range is from 3.07 to 4.89
  • Our bodies and minds don’t follow a close of business. Twenty-four hours a day, we beat, pump, and transmit, synapses firing and cells metabolizing to keep us alive—day, night and everything in between. So, it’s no wonder that a body’s needs don’t always conform to normal operating hours.
Healthcare facilities like emergency rooms and specialized urgent care and walk-in clinics have a responsibility to provide treatment whenever it is needed—and when a person’s health is on the line, downtime can be dangerous.
