Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) marks the fifth anniversary of International Data Center Day and its continued support of the globally recognized and celebrated event. Powered by the 7x24 Exchange International, Data Center Day was created to raise awareness about the industry and the multitude of career opportunities in the data center space.
With more than seven million data centers worldwide, and a projected annual average job growth of 12 percent through 2025 (ref. https://datacenter.uptimeinstitute.com/2021-staffing-report.html), International Data Center Day aims to highlight the opportunities and educate youth and professionals about career tracks, educational requirements and advancement in the data center industry. This year, Cummins Data Center professionals at the company’s Power Generation facility in Fridley, MN, will be joining the mission by hosting more than 30 students from the Northeast Metro 916 Career and Tech Center Diesel Trucks and Engine Technology program, Century College, White Bear Lake, MN. The event enables students to see firsthand how Cummins harnesses its global supply chain to assemble generators at the facility and learn about next generation zero carbon technologies that will one day provide the energy needed to run data centers worldwide.
"We are incredibly excited and proud to be part of the data center industry in celebrating the International Data Center Day. By participating in this global event, we join our industry partners in highlighting the importance of the digital infrastructure that powers our world," said Govindaraj Ramasamy, Executive Director, Data Centers at Cummins Power Systems.
Cummins is a leading global provider of backup power solutions for the data center industry, with the largest dedicated support network coverage in the world. With teams around the world and a network of dedicated data center specialists and power experts, Cummins provides full end-to-end integrated power system solutions for data centers globally.
Cummins continues to support a focus on the value of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education through community engagement events and sharing valuable information on advancements within the data center ecosystem.
Furthermore, Ramasamy added, "We are confident that our continued commitment to invest in fundamental research and efforts to educate the next generation of talent will contribute positively to the industry’s growth for many years to come."
