For Ebunoluwa O., a Senior Purchasing and Supply Continuity Specialist in Columbus, Indiana, ensuring parts flow smoothly across multiple manufacturing sites is more than a job—it’s a mission. With expertise in procurement, a global perspective and a commitment to teamwork, she plays a critical role in keeping Cummins operations resilient and efficient.

Her interest in supply chain management started early. “Growing up, I wanted to become a lawyer; however, I was strongly influenced by my father, who worked as a store and warehouse officer,” she said. “Because of him, I was exposed to materials on procurement and supply chain management which sparked my interest in the field at an early age.” That early curiosity led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Olabisi Onabanjo University in Nigeria, followed by a Fellow Chartered Accountant designation through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and full membership with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply in the United Kingdom. This combination of accounting and procurement expertise gives her a unique perspective on cost management, supplier performance and operational efficiency.

Ebunoluwa joined Cummins West Africa Limited as a Senior Supply Chain Specialist and later relocated to Columbus, Indiana, bringing with her a wealth of international experience. More than eight years with Cummins have allowed her to grow professionally while making tangible contributions to the company. “As a procurement professional, I am actively involved in creating value for Cummins through cost reduction initiatives and by supporting supply continuity across multiple manufacturing sites,” she said. “It is especially rewarding to see my contributions translate into finished products and to understand how my work directly impacts both the top and bottom-line performance for Cummins.”

No two days are the same in her role. “A typical day involves understanding demand across the manufacturing sites I support and collaborating closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to remove identified barriers, address component constraints and resolve issues that could disrupt production,” she said. “This includes aligning on recovery or shipment plans to ensure a steady and reliable flow of parts.” Her work reflects one of Cummins’ core values: teamwork. “Teamwork enhances communication and coordination, enabling us to proactively address component constraints and maintain the flow of parts,” she said. “As a result, we are able to deliver finished kits and assemblies on time, supporting manufacturing schedules and customer commitments.”

For Ebunoluwa, the supportive environment at Cummins has been central to her success. “The work environment at Cummins is relaxed and cordial with respectful colleagues and managers who are genuinely invested in helping employees succeed,” she said. “The environment promotes authenticity and allows individuals to bring their best selves to work.” She has also felt that support during challenging moments in her life. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cummins retained employees and provided flexible work arrangements. “That flexibility allowed me to support my family, especially my two young children at the time,” she said. When relocating from Nigeria to the United States, she added, “The Cummins relocation team made the transition seamless by providing comprehensive support services and guidance every step of the way.”

Professional growth continues to be a priority for Ebunoluwa. She is pursuing a master’s degree in Supply Chain Management with an expected completion in 2028. “Cummins has been highly supportive of my professional growth through Supply Chain Academy trainings, mentoring sessions, job enrichment opportunities and my selection for a master’s degree program,” she said. Her development is also reflected in the projects she leads. By analyzing supplier performance, negotiating agreements and coordinating cross-functional responses to component shortages, she helps ensure operations remain uninterrupted and efficient—supporting both financial performance and operational excellence.

Outside of work, Ebunoluwa enjoys cooking, watching movies, reading novels and sewing, which help her recharge. She also participates in several Cummins-supported community initiatives, contributing directly to programs that provide essentials for families and children in need. “These activities allow me to give back while connecting with the community in meaningful ways,” she said.
